The immigrants who took the oath of citizenship Friday included three each from Canada and Vietnam, two from Mexico, and one each from China, Jordan, Philippines, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

By obtaining citizenship, which is a thorough and years-long process, immigrants promise to support the constitution; renounce allegiance to foreign leaders or states; be willing to take up arms on behalf of the U.S. when required by law or make themselves available to the armed forces.

We offer our congratulations to these 13 new citizens, and we say, officially, welcome. We hope you make the most of your opportunities, and enjoy the bounties that the United States have to offer.
