Meanwhile, President Clinton is again using a gun tragedy -- this time, one 6-year-old kills another 6-year-old -- as a tool to further his campaign for more firearms regulation. Comments from the head of the National Rifle Association have stirred the national debate.
The stolen gun in this particular case is one firearm -- and there are plenty more where it came from -- that would never have had a trigger lock no matter how many laws are passed.
The common sense that tells a responsible gun owner to take whatever precautions, including trigger locks, that are necessary to prevent such terrible events is the same common sense that tells us there is an element of society that doesn't care about gun safety or laws to force us to be safe.
It is instances like this where the line between appropriate regulation and an infringement on our rights becomes incredibly thin.
