Zita O. Hess of Kelso passed away on Thursday, June 10, 1999, at the Lutheran Home. She was born on February 10, 1912 in Scott County, the daughter of Adam B Schaefer and Rufina Schlosser. She married Joseph Marion Hess on April 19, 1938. Mrs. Hess was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, St. Ann's Ladies Sodality of Church, and active in Senior Citizens of Kelso. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away on Sept. 9, 1976, four brothers and five sisters. She is survived by three sons, James Hess of Chaffee, Charles Hess of Scott City and Earl Hess of Knoxville, Tenn.; four daughters, Lillian Hess of Scott City, Alice Hess of Rockview, Mo., Aleen Conway of Park Hills, Mo. and Betty Dickerson of Jackson; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus service will be at 7:15 p.m. The funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 14, 1999 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Internment will be in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Kelso.
