ZITA HESS

KELSO -- Zita O. Hess, 87, of Kelso died Thursday, June 10, 1999, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 10, 1912, in Scott County, daughter of Adam B. and Rufina Schlosser Schaefer. She and Joseph Marion Hess were married April 19, 1938. He died Sept. 9, 1976.

Hess was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and its St. Ann's Sodality, and was active in Senior Citizens.

Survivors include three sons, James Hess of Chaffee, Charles Hess of Scott City, Earl Hess of Knoxville, Tenn.; four daughters, Lillian Hess of Scott City, Alice Hess of Rockview, Aleen Conway of Park Hills, Betty Dickerson of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 4 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., and the Knights of Columbus service will be at 7:15.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Church. The Rev. Oliver Clavin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
