Mackie Zelma Humphries, 86, 706 Woodbine, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1992, at Bond Nursing Care Center in Marble Hill.

She was born Nov. 10, 1905, in Red Bay, Ala., daughter of Charlie A. and Lula Mitchell Hammock. She and Isom Humphries were married in 1923. He died July 16, 1960.

Humphries was a farmer and restaurant cook. She had owned and operated North Y Restaurant, The Hut, and The City Service Cafe. She was a member of Dempsey Missionary Baptist Church in Five Points, Ala.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Humphries of Dudley, Amon Humphries of Sikeston, Billy Humphries of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Gertrude Centers of Red Bay; a brother, Charles Hammock of Sikeston; a sister, Lester Patterson of Lakewood, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Tracy Carroll will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time.
