Pertle Probst of Jackson, the Missouri Veterans' Home's last World War I veteran, died Thursday at 104.
He was born at Neely's Landing north of Cape Girardeau, served in an artillery unit overseas during the war and returned home to work as a mechanic.
Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson is handling arrangements for Probst.
