CHARLESTON -- Woodie Brown, 87, of Charleston, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 1995, at East Prairie Nursing Center.
He was born July 4, 1907, in Bollinger County, son of John Patterson and Nancy Cates Brown. He and Lucy Bell Estes were married March 25, 1934, at Jackson. She died April 4, 1982.
Brown was employed in the maintenance department of Brown Shoe Co., retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include four sons, Stanley and Jessie Brown of Lynwood, Calif., C.D. and Floyd Brown of Charleston; three daughters, Inavee Spoon and Jurlene Burcks of Charleston, Dessie Gross of Anniston; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph, and four sisters.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. William Heckert and Jake Nobles officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Scopus.
