Wm. E. "Bill" Sullivan, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 29, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born March 23, 1938, in Doniphan, Missouri, to Samuel P. and Ruth Bacon Sullivan. He and Peggy Halter Ferrell were married June 29, 1991, at Chaffee, Missouri.
Bill was a graduate of Chaffee High School. He worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad 43 years as a conductor. He retired in 1999.
He lived in Chaffee more than 50 years and moved to Cape Girardeau in 1991.
He was a member of United Transportation Union, the Elks of Chaffee and Cape Girardeau Shrine Club and was a 32nd-Degree Mason. He was also a member and elder of First Christian Church of Chaffee and served on the Raney Farm Board at Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sullivan of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Wendy Little of Chaffee; five stepdaughters, Glenda (Butch) Enderle of Peyton, Colorado, Trish (Steve) Thomas of Cape Girardeau, Kimberly (Ernie) Lawson of Cape Girardeau, Dawn (Jody) Haupt of Egypt Mills and Robin (Charles Kramer) Ferrell of St. Louis; two stepsons, Terry (Kathy) Harris of Lexington, South Carolina, and Mike (Brenda) Harris of Waterloo, Illinois; a brother, Robert (Janet) Sullivan of Chaffee; a sister, Ruth Anne Glency of Chaffee; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel P. Sullivan; mother, Ruth Sullivan; two grandsons, Pete Ernie Lawson and Steven Thomas; a great-grandson, Alexander Enderle; and a brother-in-law, Mick Glency.
Friends may call from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. There will be a Shriners/Masonic Lodge service at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Shepherd officiating.Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children-St. Louis.
