Funeral service for Winifred S. Gross of St. Louis, formerly of Cape Girardeau, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

Gross, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1993, at Friendship Village South Nursing Home in St. Louis.

She was born July 6, 1905, at Whitewater, daughter of Thomas and Sarah Poinsett Morgan. She and Roy Gross were married in 1926 at Whitewater. He died in 1932.

Gross moved to Cape Girardeau in 1934 from Whitewater. She owned and operated Gross Grocery on Bloomfield Road for six years. From 1941-65 she was restaurant manager at Sunny Hill. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, George Gross of Crystal City; a daughter, Dorothy West of Mt. Holly, N.J.; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
