ALTENBERG -- Wilson A. Gerler, 83, of Altenburg, died Saturday, March 20, 1993, at Vencor Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born July 13, 1909, at Altenberg, son of Christian (John) and Susanna Vegel Gerler.

He was a house painter. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Gerler was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg and the American Legion Post 133 of Perryville.

Survivors include a brother, Ernst Gerler of Potter, Neb.; seven nieces and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Margaret Rall Gerler; four brothers; three sisters and a niece.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today and 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday at the Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg. There will be an American Legion wake service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Willard Kassulke officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
