SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Wilma Wampler Tate, 92, of San Antonio died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Regent Care Nursing Center in San Antonio.
She was born Jan. 24, 1910, at Lutesville, Mo., daughter of John W. and Bertie F. Reed Wampler. She and Cecil Tate were married Oct. 15, 1955. He died Oct. 21, 1983.
Tate was formerly a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She lived in Cape Girardeau most of her life until moving to Hot Springs Village for 16 years and to San Antonio in 1988. She and her husband owned and operated Tate Distributing Co. in Cape Girardeau for 25 years. Prior to her marriage she was the general manager for 52 Sally Ann Dress Shops, retiring in 1954.
Survivors include a brother, William Wampler of San Antonio; and four sisters, B.J. Propst of Rancho Muritto, Calif., Lynn Denman of Little Rock, Ark., Loretta Kuntze of Clayton, La., and Irma Church of Springfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. The Rev. Jay White will officiate with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
