Wilma J. "Jeannie" Soellner, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Aug. 25, 1942, in Rolla, Missouri, to Vernon E. and Dorothy Potter.

She and Arthur M. Soellner were married Aug. 29, 1959, at First Presbyterian Church in Rolla, Missouri.

She received her high school diploma from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1960. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Southeast Missouri State College in 1965. She received a Master of Arts in Education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1975.

She was an elementary education teacher for three years at Baring Cross School in North Little Rock, Arkansas. During the next 27 years she was an elementary teacher for the Cape Girardeau Public Schools and helped develop and teach arts and crafts as part of the elementary school program. During and after her career of teaching, she worked as a part time reality agent in the Cape Girardeau area.

She decorated her home with arts and crafts projects and shared her art with friends and family.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Soellner of Cape Girardeau; a son, Michael (Lois) Soellner of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Mary Lee of Rolla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Potter, Feb. 20, 1986, and Vernon Potter, Feb. 1, 2010.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home with the Dr. Dennis Perkins officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.

The Soellner family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the employees at the Lutheran Home for their excellent care and support during the finals years of her life.
