Wilma Ringer

DEXTER, Mo. -- Wilma Ringer, daughter of the late Fred Long and Myrta Mollohan Long, was born Sept. 11, 1923, at Hardin, Ill., and departed this life in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter, Friday, July 22, 2005, at the age of 81 years.

Mrs. Ringer was a housewife, graduated from Des Arc, Mo., High School and went on to attend Southeast Missouri State University.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dexter, playing piano in the primary department, member of State Democratic Committee, loved reading, working crossword puzzles, traveling with Airstream Group, and was a lifetime member of Missouri Historical Society.

On Sept. 11, 1943, she was united in marriage to Carl Jean Ringer in Garden City, Kan. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. C. Nelson Ringer and wife Jane of Cape Girardeau, William F. Ringer of Lees Summit, Mo.; a daughter, Carole Jean Vaughn and husband Jim of Dexter; a grandson, David Nelson Ringer of Lees Summit; two sisters, Verna Lewis of Van Buren, Mo., and Macel Seal of Piedmont, Mo.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lance Ringer; three sisters, Avis Long, Elsie Silliman and Mabel McSpadden.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2005.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Rainey-Mathis Chapel, with the Rev. Louis J. Lowe officiating. Interment will be in Dexter Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Stoddard County Children's Home in Bloomfield, Mo.
