McCLURE, Ill. -- Wilma M. Colyer, 95, of McClure died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 18, 1919, in Alexander County, to A.R. and Ola Cleaver Rogers. She and Emanuel Colyer were married May 28, 1937, in Jackson. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Wilma was a graduate of McClure High School. She was a 4-H leader and a member of East Cape Baptist Church, Homemakers Extension of Alexander County, Women Missions United and Woodmen's Women of the World.
She worked at the former Hirsch's Thriftway in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a son, James R. Colyer (Lynn) of Columbia, Illinois; a daughter, Peggy J. Evans of Phoenix; three sisters, Leoda Watkins of Ware, Illinois, Jean Moss of Anna, Illinois, and Doris Jobe (Ken) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, William E. Colyer and daughter-in-law, Marilyn; two brothers, Lawrence Rogers and Leroy Rogers, who died in 1945 in the Battle of the Bulge and is buried in Luxembourg; two sisters, Marie Held and Annie Blaylock; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Oxford officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
