JONESBORO, Ill. -- Funeral for Wilma F. Carter of Jonesboro will be held at 1 p.m. today at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Prather officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.

Another funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup. Burial will be in Swick Cemetery at Hidalgo.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Carter, 81, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at her home.

She was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Hidalgo, daughter of Henry Clarence and Eva Whitt Combs. She and Harold Carter were married May 8, 1948, in Reno, Nev. He died Sept. 7, 1983.

Carter worked with her husband in their grocery store in Toledo, and later was a cashier at an IGA store. She was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church, and had been a volunteer at the Senior Nutrition Site in Ware.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruthanne Young of Jonesboro, Mary Kaye Swinford of Lusby, Md.; three sons, Michael Carter of Jonesboro, the Rev. Bill Carter of Santa Clarita, Calif., Phillip Carter of Chatham; a stepdaughter, Connie Gappa of Texas; two stepsons, David Kelly and Robert Carter of Kearney, Neb.; two sisters, Jona Ingram of Aumsville, Ore., Ruth Healy of Greenup; a brother, Jim Combs of Rochelle; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a sister.
