Willmon A. "Huck" Huckstep, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Missouri Veteran's Home.
He was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of Albert Lee and Marie Siebert Huckstep. He and Zola Stoops were married on Feb. 1, 1943, in St. Louis. She died Feb. 21, 2007.
Huckstep served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 18, 1943, to April 17, 1946. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel. He founded Southeast Missouri Dental Lab in 1946. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Huckstep and wife, Polly, and Herman Huckstep and wife, Kathy, both of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Huckstep of Jackson; six grandchildren, Allan Huckstep and wife, Tammy, April Amelunke and husband, John E., Jason Huckstep, Jennifer Hart and husband, Bobby, Shawn Huckstep, all of Jackson and Laura Foltz and husband, Danny, of Millersville; nine great-grandchildren, Trevor Foltz, Monica Foltz and Olivia Foltz, all of Millersville, Kayla Huckstep, Lydia Huckstep, Savanna Huckstep, Cole Amelunke, Erica Amelunke and Kaitlin Hart, all of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry Huckstep; and two brothers, Charles and Gene Huckstep.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, with the Rev. Barry L. Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with military rites conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.
