Willie Mae Mayberry, age 79, of Jackson passed away Friday, Jan 2, 2015, at her home.
She was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Center Ridge, Arkansas, daughter of Orville and Pauline Peterson Henderson. She and the Rev Charles Mayberry were married April 7, 1954, in Kennett, Missouri.
Willie Mae was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, Missouri and worked at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson.
She and her husband were foster parents to many handicapped individuals.
She was an avid quilter and gardener.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Vickie) Mayberry of North Carolina and Danny Mayberry of Jackson; a daughter, Carolyn (Gary) Duemler of Lonedell, Missouri; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Henderson of Texas; and a sister, Ruby (Rick) Wise of Houston, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; son, Steve Mayberry; parents and a brother, Robert Henderson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev Ken Grant officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
