CHARLESTON -- Willie Jarrett, 51, of Chicago, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, May 26, 1995, at Ingalls Memorial Hospital. CHARLESTON -- Willie Jarrett, 51, of Chicago, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, May 26, 1995, at Ingalls Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 31, 1943, in Charleston, to Isaiah and Minnie Swope Jarrett.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Charleston and a former member of the Charleston Police Department. In 1976, Jarrett moved to Illinois and became a security officer for the state.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; seven sons, Curtis Neal, Willie Jarrett Jr., Maurice Jarrett, David Jarrett, Malcolm Jarrett, Chris Davis and Wilburt Moore; seven daughters, Shelia Moore, Angela Moore, Latisha Jarrett, Donna Scott, Brestina Cotton, Desma Triplett and Gloria Butler; two brothers, Isaiah Jarrett Jr. of Chicago and Billy Jarrett of Charleston; two sisters, Alfreda Jarrett of Bloomington, Ill., and Yvonne Jones of Buffalo, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 1 Saturday at the Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Charleston.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. J.L. Posey officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Sparks Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
