SIKESTON -- Willie G. McCanless, 83, formerly of Sikeston, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 1991, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 28, 1908, in Nixon, Tenn., son of Hiram Frank and Lucindy Emerson McCanless. He and Agnes Lucille Dillinder were married Dec. 10, 1929, at Marked Tree, Ark. She died May 21, 1986.
McCanless formerly owned and operated Mack's Auto Salvage at Sikeston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include seven sons, Charles McCanless of Oak Ridge, Dale McCanless of Leasburg, Tom McCanless of Union, Keith and Rocky McCanless of Sikeston, Bobby McCanless of Bridgeton, Elvin McCanless of Bakersfield, Calif.
Also surviving are eight daughters, Billie Criddle of Oak Ridge, Patsy Criddle of Orlando, Fla., Linda Anderson of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Doris Adams, Betty Kinder, Sandra Hupp, Lena Goines and Kathy Grigsby, all of Sikeston; a sister, Virdie Shaver of Dexter; 52 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Adams will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
