EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Willie C. "Jake" Walker of rural East Prairie will be at 2 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. Johnny Bell will officiate, and burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Walker, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Jan. 6, 1907, near Marion, Ky., the son of John D. and Ida May Carner Walker.
He lived in Mississippi County most of his life, where he was retired from Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston. He was of the Baptist denomination.
On Feb. 7, 1934, he married Lela May Furlong, who preceded him in death on June 2, 1982. He was also preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
Survivors include three sons, Bob and Gale Walker, both of East Prairie, and Mike Walker, St. Louis; a brother, Clem Walker of Jackson; a half-brother, John "Butch" Walker of East Prairie; a sister, Dollie Corbin of Emerson, Ga.; a half-sister, Georgia Bryan of Greenville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
