SIKESTON -- Graveside service for William "Spencer" Williams will be held at 2 p.m. today at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to service time.

Williams, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at Clearview Nursing Center.

He was born Sept. 7, 1914, at Dogwood, son of William Ashley and Nellie Mae York Williams. He married Ila Mae Gestring, who died Sept. 11, 1992.

Williams had been a ranger with the U.S. Forest Service. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Patricia Happe of Sikeston; and a brother, James Williams of Sikeston.
