MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- William H. Stewart Sr., 89, of Marble Hill died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 4, 1921, in Lilbourn, Mo., son of Fred and Emma Jane Earls Stewart. He and Lillie Bowen were married Dec. 16, 1944. She died June 13, 2006.
Stewart was an assembly line worker with A.O. Smith.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
Survivors include three sons, William H. Stewart Jr. of Kankakee, Ill., Bruce Ezra and Robert Mitchell Stewart of Memphis, Tenn.; five daughters, Iris Brutlag of New Burnside, Ill., Martha Pearl Sweeney of Marquand, Mo., Brenda Jane Zur of Bradley, Ill., Delores Renee Seedorf of Sarcoxie, Mo., Clara A. Campbell of Bourbonnais, Ill.; 26 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo., with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating.
Private burial will be at a later date.
