William T. Smith, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., son of Lee and Nettie Martin Smith. William T. Smith, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., son of Lee and Nettie Martin Smith.

Smith was a meatcutter more than 30 years. Formerly of Hayti, Mo., he was a member of Hayti Church of Christ.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Hutchcraft of Sedgewickville, Mo.; a brother, Carl Smith of Columbia, Ill.; two sisters, Edith Ebehard of Des Peres, Mo., Marie Masters of Lexington, Ky.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

A graveside service was held Thursday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett, Mo. Spencer Furby officiated.

McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
