William Frank Skelton, 72, of Scott City died Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 26, 1948, in Chicago to Lester Leroy and Dorothy Tonning Skelton. He and Peggy Gross were married Oct. 3, 2016.
He served in the U.S. Army for 12 1/2 years, being stationed twice in Germany and twice in Korea, as well as in the United States.
After retirement, he was a volunteer at Saint Francis Medical Center for 13 years, and his favorite pastime was bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Skelton of Scott City; sons, Allen Christopher (Rita) Skelton of Cornelius, Oregon, and Kevin Lynn Skelton of Scott City; sisters, Helen (Bob) Goettsch of Lexington, South Carolina, and Mary Skelton of Lake Villa, Illinois; grandchildren, Emily Skelton of Cornelius and Christopher Skelton of Hillsboro, Oregon; stepsons, Gregory (Kim) Gross of Scott City and James (Lisa) Penny of Cape Girardeau; and other loving extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother and prior wife, Wilma Skelton.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating, followed by full military honors. Private entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
