BENTON, Mo. -- William "Bill" Eugene Schlosser, 88, of Benton passed away peacefully Thursday, June 23, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Born Jan. 6, 1934, in Illmo, Bill attended St. Augustine Catholic School and married Patricia Ann Urhahn Schlosser on Nov. 20, 1954.
Bill was the proud owner and operator of Schlosser Excavating and Construction Inc. since its incorporation in 1960. He had an unquestionable zest for his work, life, Caterpillar and Ford trucks that was made apparent in every conversation he held. His dedication and love for his faith and family emboldened his strong, kind and selfless character and touched the lives of everyone around him.
Throughout his life, Bill was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and choir of Benton, Missouri National Guard, Knights of Columbus Council No. 6420 in Scott City and Benton Chamber of Commerce. Bill was also a registered organ donor.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Urhahn Schlosser of Benton; four children, Denise (David) Glastetter of Kelso, Missouri, Ronnie (Maryiln) Schlosser and Carla (David) Robert, both of Benton, and Alicia (David) Yant of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren, Kurt (Stephanie) Glastetter of St. Louis, Dustin (Emily) Glastetter of St. Louis, Tyler Schlosser of Benton, Miranda Schlosser of Cape Girardeau, Aaron (Rhonda) Robert of Benton, Natalie (George) Eftink of Benton, Mindy (Brad) Crader of Jackson, Madison Yant of Columbia, Missouri, Mallory Yant of Dallas and Mitchell (Hannah Wilson) Yant of St. Louis; nine great-grandchildren, Hugh and Faye Glastetter, Darcie Glastetter, Claire Robert, Peyton, Reece and Eli Eftink, and Medley and Marlee Crader; two brothers, Dale (Gale LeDure) and Rick (Karen) Schlosser of Scott City; six sisters, Helen Kluesner, Doris (Danny) Moore, Diana (Ira) Judd, Charlotte (Joan Drury) Hooper, Mary Schlosser and Juanita (Jack) Dannenmueller of Scott City; and sister-in-law, Margie Schlosser of Scott City.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Theon John and Ella Irene LeDure Schlosser Sr.; brothers, Theon Jr., Maurice, Franklin and Joseph Schlosser; sister, Ella Schlosser; and great-grandson Kaden Robert.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton. Parish prayers will be at 6 p.m., followed by a KC service.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Denis Catholic Cemetery in Benton.
Memorials may be made to the Kaden Robert family scholarship fund and St. Denis Catholic School.
