MOUNDS, Ill. -- William L. "Bill" Scales, 82, of Mounds died Thursday at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 2, 1923, in Cairo, Ill., son of Louis and Lena Storey Scales. He married Betty Scales, who died in 1998.
Scales had worked at First State Bank of Mounds. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Brema "Pill" Severs of Pulaski, Ill., Cindy Scales of Grand Chain, Ill.; a friend, Betty Goodlin of Mounds; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating.
