William Alphonse Riehl, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021.
Bill was born April 19, 1937, in Cape Girardeau.
He was a graduate of College High School in Cape Girardeau in 1956. He lived and worked in the Cape Girardeau area his entire life, working at the Brokerage Department Store, Marquette Cement and retiring from Sears after a long career as an electronic and appliance repairman in 1997.
Bill was devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles and reading. He was a member of the Army National Guard from 1953-1962. Bill was a past member and deacon at Cape Christian Church, where he supervised multiple construction projects for the church. In later years he attended Lynwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Jane Riehl; son, Mark Riehl; daughter, Lyn (Kirk) Hawkins of Kirkwood, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Sue Riehl of Cape Girardeau; sister, Cathy Eskew of Cartersville, Georgia; grandchildren, Luke (Kirsten) Riehl of Cape Girardeau, Travis (Jill) Hawkins of St. Louis, Alex Riehl of Cape Girardeau and Tara Hawkins of St. Louis; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Riehl and Brayden Riehl.
A graveside memorial service was held Saturday at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
