JACKSON -- William Russell Conley, 75, Jackson Route 3, died Tuesday, July 14, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 29, 1917, at Jackson, son of Huey and Bertha Froemsdorf Conley. He and Virginia Crader were married Sept. 4, 1938. She died Aug. 15, 1986.

Conley worked at the Jackson Hosiery Mill 32 years, retiring as foreman in 1974. He was the former caretaker at Old McKendree Chapel.

He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, American Legion, and charter member of Jackson Trailriders Association. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Richard and Michael Conley of Jackson; two daughters, Bonnie Butler of Arnold, Linda Jansen, Jackson Route 3; a brother, Elwood Conley of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Hazel Clippard of Oak Ridge, Marie Orrell, Jackson Route 2; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandddaughter.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Nancy Woods will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
