SHOOK -- Funeral for William Arvel Norton of Shook will be held at 10 a.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. The Rev. Rudy Pittman will officiate. Burial will be in Richmann Cemetery near Wappapello.

Norton, 87, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.

He was born July 26, 1912, near Montauk, son of John Henry and Ellie May Shipp Norton. He married Cecelia Drew in St. Louis.

Norton lived in St. Louis many years, moving to Shook in 1975. He was retired from Mississippi Glass Manufacturing. He was a member of Richmond Chapel Church near Wappapello and a Masonic Lodge in St. Louis.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Norton of Shook; five daughters, Shirley Lindeman, Mary Stefnie, Reanee Creamer and Betty Haase of St. Louis, Bonnie Eckert of Licking; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, a granddaughter, a brother and a sister.
