PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- William Loyd Minton, 74, of Perryville died Monday, July 31, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Thebes, Ill., son of Loyd Erwin and Lola Irene Gibbs Minton. He and Barbara June Morris were married June 6, 1964.
Minton was a teacher 38 years at Perry County School District 32.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, former Sunday School teacher, song leader, church clerk and senior ministries leader. He was also a member of Missouri State Teachers Association, Perry County Teachers Organization, National Council for the Social Studies, and Phi Delta Kappa.
Minton was a rifleman in the European theater with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lee Ann Conyers of Batesville, Ark.; a sister, Dorothy Eggemeyer of Chester, Ill.; his stepmother, Edith Minton of Cutler, Ill.; a granddaughter; and a stepgrandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at First Baptist Church from 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
A memorial service will be held at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gerold McBride will officiate. Burial will be in Home Cemetery.
