William M. Lewis, 92, of Chanute, Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Park Place Health Care in Chanute.
He was born March 6, 1906, at Neelys Landing, son of Charles Edward and Elizabeth Kirby Lewis. He and Linda C. Gerecke were married in 1933 at Gordonville.
Lewis was a physical chemist 48 years at Marquette Cement Co. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Men's Club.
He moved to Chanute in May 1997 from Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Martha Brooks of Chanute, Mary Schaefer of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Dorothy Warner of Ballwin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel after 4:30 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Church, with the Rev. David Hintz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
