CLEARWATER, Fla. -- William Leo Tupper, 77, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 1996, at his home in Clearwater, Fla.
Tupper grew up in Cape Girardeau, where his father was the manager of the Marquette Hotel. He graduated from Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State Teachers College.
He and Mary Elizabeth Macke were married in 1942 in Nashville, Tenn. She died in November 1991.
Tupper was a member of the Presbyterian Church and an Army veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II.
He worked as vice president of the Chrysler Corp. Credit and Finance Co. until his retirement. He moved from Irvine, Calif., to Clearwater, Fla., in 1981.
Survivors include a son, Mark Tupper of Mandiville, La.; a brother, Harold Tupper of Susanville, Calif.; a sister, Betty Sandstrom of LaMesa, Calif; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son in 1995.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1996, at Palm Harbor, Fla.
