William H. Lehne, 98, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Dec. 17, 1909, in Egypt Mills, Mo., son of August and Rosena Kirchoff Lehne. He and Gladys Heuschober were married in 1931 in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Lehne moved to Cape Girardeau from Egypt Mills in 1922. He attended Washington School and Central High School.
He was the manager of Southeast Packing Co. and Pipkin-Boyd-Neal Packing Co. until it closed in 1966. He also worked at Cape Paint and Glass until his retirement.
Mr. Lehne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the board of elders and held the position of secretary. He was also a former choir member, Bible Class member, member of Men's Club. He was a Boy Scout leader 10 years with Trinity Scout Troop 8. He was a past member and president of Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Carl Lehne of Florissant, Mo.; three grandchildren, Mark (Sheila) Lehne and John (Rebecca) Lehne of St. Louis, Sara (Joe) Solis of Cincinnati; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Lehne, Alyssa Lehne, Nathan Lehne, all of St. Louis, Sophia Solis and Rose Solis of Cincinnati, and Preston Thiessen of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and six sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
