William L. Brune, 68, 716 N. Sprigg, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of Henry J. and Alma Young Brune. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University...

William L. Brune, 68, 716 N. Sprigg, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of Henry J. and Alma Young Brune. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Brune served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 11, 1943 to Oct. 18, 1946. He was a second lieutenant in Gen. George C. Patton's Third Army in France, Germany and Austria. He then served under Gen. Mark C. Clark in Austria, and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant.

He established Brune's Cleaners and Furriers with his brother, Charles, in 1947. He later held the automobile franchises for Plymouth-Chrysler, Ford-Edsel and Renault. He was a salesman and sales manager with Guth Brothers Block and Brick Co. more than 20 years.

Brune was a member of Louis K. Juden American Legion Post, Lloyd Dale Clippard VFW Post, and longtime stockholder and member of Cape Girardeau Country Club. He was an avid golfer, member of the Lions Club, Central High School Booster Club, Southeast Missouri State University Booster Club and Copper Dome Society.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnne S. Seabaugh, and a brother, Charles Brune of Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday.
