Longtime Cape Girardeau businessman William L. "Bill" Shivelbine died Saturday, June 1, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was 67.
Shivelbine was born in Cape Girardeau Jan. 19, 1924, son of William Adam and Irene Pott Shivelbine.
Shivelbine of 1717 Ridgeway was the secretary of Shivelbine's Music Store Inc. in Cape Girardeau. He entered into a partnership in the store with his brother, Leland Shivelbine, in 1950. Leland Shivelbine survives.
On July 24, 1947, he married Louise Freeman in Terre Haute, Ind. She survives of Cape Girardeau.
Also surviving are a son, William M. "Bill" Shivelbine of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Donna Grantham of Minneapolis, and Kay Davidson of Arlington, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Shivelbine graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1947 with a master's degree in chemical engineering. Prior to starting Shivelbine's Music Store, he worked as a chemical engineer for several paint companies in Terre Haute and San Angelo, Texas.
He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band, and the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. He was also a past president of the Optimist Club.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at the funeral home at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Louis Launhardt officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
