ADVANCE, Mo. -- William Jenkins, 75, of Advance was born Nov. 17, 1926, near Tillman in Stoddard County, the son of the late Freeman and Jewel Devore Jenkins. William passed away June 21, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
William graduated form Advance High School in 1945. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force. Before retiring in 1985, William was a farmer for 25 years, a part-time insurance agent for 22 years and a postal worker in Advance and Cape Girardeau for 15 years. He was a longtime member of Hidden Trails Country Club in Dexter, Mo., and Crowley Ridge Country Club in Bloomfield, Mo.
William and Wanda Tippett were united in marriage on Jan. 13, 1947, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William Anthony and Liana Jenkins of Advance; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Jill and Harry Foster of Hutchinson, Kan.; six grandchildren, Mrs. Chris (Kathy) Kirkman of Clarksville, Tenn., Kristi Jenkins of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Jeremiah (Erin) Cook of Advance, Andrew Jenkins of Advance, William Ross Foster of Antioch, Calif., and Terry Ray Foster of Seattle, Wash.; three great-grandchildren, Katlyn and Bryce Cook and Hannah Kirkman; three brothers, Lemond Jenkins of Springfield, Mo., Earl Jenkins of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Russel Jenkins of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Carolyn Jenkins Visek of St. Charles, Mo.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Wilda Dean Colyer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Tom Zych officiating. Kristi Jenkins will deliver the eulogy.
Interment will be at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
