WILLIAM J. SMITH

CHARLESTON -- William J. "Bill" Smith, 73, Charleston Route 3, died Sunday, May 14, 1995, at his homne.

He was born July 10, 1921, near East Prairie, son of Aaron Dellon and Gracie Pauline Harr Smith. He and Chattie B. Johnson were married Dec. 20, 1968.

Smith was a retired farmer, and member of Jehovah's Witnesses in East Prairie.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, James, Donald and Roy Smith of Charleston, Robert Smith of Bardwell, Ky.; a daughter, Kathy Patrick of East Prairie; two stepsons, William Stinnett of Victorville, Calif., Steve Stinnett of Highland, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Becky Mannings of Alton, Ill.; four brothers, Thomas Smith of St. Clair Shores, Mich., James Smith of Roy, Mich., Aaron Smith of Heber, Calif., Bobby Smith of Grass Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Harrison of Chico, Calif., Betty Morris of McClure, Ill.; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Russell Knauer officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
