SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for William John Hoffman of Jonesboro, Ark., was held Wednesday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Jonesboro. The Rev. Russell Shewmaker officiated, with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
Hoffman, 73, died Monday, Aug. 7, 1995, at his home.
He was born in Scott City, son of Pete and Bertha Westerhold Hoffman. He married the former Ella Mae New.
Hoffman retired as a salesman with American Health and Life Insurance Co. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Crowley's Ridge Beagle Club, and Tri-County Cane Cutters.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and received six Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Malcolm Hoffman of Jonesboro, Ronnie Holcomb of Marion, Ind.; two daughters, Darlene Goodman of Jonesboro, Donna Anderson of Simi Valley, Calif.; a stepson, Robert Lancaster of Jackson; a sister, Aileen Blattel of Scott City; 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
