William E. “Bill” Horner, 76, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at the Monticello House, after suffering from major health issues.

He was born Sept. 9, 1941, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to the late Clyde W. and Eva DeVillez Horner.

Bill played high-school football at Collinsville and Belleville, Illinois, and at Belleville Junior College.

He was employed by International Harvester Co., Navistar and at Wiethop Truck Sales as parts man, salesman, zone manager, training manager and president, retiring in 2004.

He was a 49-year member of Elks Lodge 639 and a member of the Cape County Cowboy Church.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved Lake of Egypt, fishing, playing softball, weight lifting and attending sporting events.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kim K. (Langston) Horner; sons, William E. Horner Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Brad A. Horner and wife, Gina, of St. Louis; stepsons, James Langston of Jackson and Ron Langston and his wife, Amber, of Sherwood, Arkansas; granddaughters, Whitney and Samantha Horner; grandson, Bryce Horner; stepgrandchildren, Kamryn Langston and Jamie Fleenor; brothers, James Horner and wife, Jackie, of St. Louis and Larry Horner and wife, Vickie, of Trenton, Illinois; sister, Marilyn Roy of Swansea, Illinois; close family, Linda and Gary Littlepage of Jackson; many nieces and nephews; and his Labrador, Cowboy Gus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Margaret Winkler; and brothers-in-law, Rob Roy and Steven George.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be given to the Cape County Cowboy Church or Southeast Hospice.
