William Cooper Hines, 89, of Sedalia, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp, Mo.
He was born May 9, 1924, in Jackson to Frank Mills and Grace Belle Cracraft Hines.
He graduated from Jackson High School in 1942. Growing up in Jackson he was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church. He attended Westminster College before entering the U.S. Navy. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet in the South Pacific during World War II.
After the war, he entered the University of Missouri at Columbia where he obtained a degree in finance and accounting. He spent most of his career in the banking industry in Missouri and Florida.
He and Constance Lea Thomason were married May 31, 1958. She died Jan. 23, 2002. His only son Ricky also preceded him in death in 1998.
He is survived by a number of cousins.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.
