WILLIAM HICKS

PERKINS -- Funeral for William E. "Willie" Hicks of Perkins will be held at 1 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Rick Crump will officiate. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery.

Hicks, 90, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at Advance Nursing Care Center in Advance.

He was born April 22, 1909, in Golconda, Ill., son of Clara Noel. He and Freda J. Kennedy Cook were married Dec. 31, 1975. She died Oct. 10, 1998.

Hicks was a mechanic at Montgomery Motor Co. in Chaffee, retiring in 1973.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Joiner of Golconda; four stepsons, Joe Pettit of Scott City, Ray and Donald Pettit of Perkins, Dallas Dees of Mississippi; three stepdaughters, Norma Phegley of Flint, Mich., Shelba Sutherland of Swartz Creek, Mich., Betty Curtis of Oran; two grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 28 great-stepgrandchildren.
