William Hasler

William J. Hasler, 82, died Jan. 7, 2010.

He was born Dec. 27, 1927, in St. Vincent, Ark., to William H. and Cora L. Hasler (nee Williams), the second-youngest of 11.

Bill was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater aboard the destroyer USS Everett F. Larson (DD830). He was a brother of Excelsior Lodge No. 441 Jackson AF & AM and an active Mason for 52 years. Bill retired in 1982 after 30 years' service at Continental Can Co. Plant No. 64 Chicago.

He loved people and always enjoyed interacting with others. He was a caring and loving husband and father and will be missed dearly by those he left behind. He is with his maker, and with his grace, he has found eternal peace.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma L. Hasler (nee Standridge), his spouse of 62 years; one son, Larry D. Hasler (Joyce) of Lahaina, Hawaii; two daughters, Deborah L. Hasler of Loveland, Colo., and Sharon L. DeWitt (Leo) of Fort Collins, Colo.; one brother, Welton of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Lovina Ivy of Dexter, Mo.; grandchildren Matthew DeWitt of Springfield, Mo., Nicholas DeWitt of Fort Collins, Julie (Jeff) Hober of Grand Junction, Colo.; many nephews and nieces; and his special buddies Bailey, Hailey and Ditka.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Leslie DeWitt; and eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and will be immediately followed by a funeral service at Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N. Lincoln, Loveland, Colo.
