CAIRO, Ill. -- William C. "Bill" Hafford, 63, of Cairo died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at his home. He was born May 1, 1942, in Cairo, son of Thomas and Kathryn Whitaker Hafford. He married Mary Griffith. Hafford owned B&H Heating and Cooling in Cairo. He was a member of Cairo Lodge 237 AF&AM and was a York Rite Mason. He was a member of Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis, Ill., KIM Shrine Club in Cairo, Cairo VFW Post 2649 and served as commander three years, and member of American Legion...

CAIRO, Ill. -- William C. "Bill" Hafford, 63, of Cairo died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at his home.

He was born May 1, 1942, in Cairo, son of Thomas and Kathryn Whitaker Hafford. He married Mary Griffith.

Hafford owned B&H Heating and Cooling in Cairo. He was a member of Cairo Lodge 237 AF&AM and was a York Rite Mason. He was a member of Ainad Shrine Temple in East St. Louis, Ill., KIM Shrine Club in Cairo, Cairo VFW Post 2649 and served as commander three years, and member of American Legion.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife; seven daughters, Kathy Oglesby of Texico, Ill., Deborah Katanzaro of St. Louis, Jerie Roberts of Mount Vernon, Ill., Kimberly Hafford of Effingham, Ill., Diane Ragsdale of Reidland, Ky., Barbara Wilson of Cairo, Tammy Langan of Barlow, Ky.; three sons, Bill Hafford Jr. of Hoyleton, Ill., Carl Hafford of St. Louis, Alan Hayden of Barlow; two sisters, Jean Hinton of Sikeston, Mo., Sharon Pierce of Erin, Tenn.; a brother, Thomas Hafford of Cordova, Tenn.; several grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 5 to 8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill., with military honors conducted by Pulaski County Memorial VFW Post 8891 of Mounds, Ill.
