William S. "Bill" Glasscock Sr., 85, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Landmark Hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Chaffee, Mo., to George W. and Cora Jane Williams Glasscock. Bill was a resident of Missouri Veterans Home...

William S. "Bill" Glasscock Sr., 85, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Landmark Hospital.

He was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Chaffee, Mo., to George W. and Cora Jane Williams Glasscock.

Bill was a resident of Missouri Veterans Home.

He served 21 years in the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of American Legion and past member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a son, Sashi Glasscock (Suzy) of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Ritsuko Stone of Fruitland; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Aaron Proffer of Scott City, Bobby Ray Proffer of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William S. Glasscock Jr.; three brothers, Albert, Leon and Ralph Glasscock; three sisters, Ruby Glasscock, Dorothy Davenport and Mary Palmer.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Hoffstetter officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Veterans Home and will be accepted at the funeral home.
