SIKESTON -- William F. Stokes, 74 years old, of Sikeston, died at 9:48 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 1991, at Missouri Delta Medical Center's emergency room.
He was born April 20, 1916, in Sikeston, son of Fred and Ada Alsup Stokes.
He married Lelia Glenn Stokes of Vanduser.
He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Sikeston Fraternal Order of Eagles 3319 and Henry Meldrem American Legion Post 114. He retired after 23 years from the Sikeston street department.
Survivors are sons, Billie R. Stokes, Waxahachie, Texas, Doyle D. Stokes, O'Fallon, Kenny and Bill Stokes Jr., both of Sikeston, and Mark D. Stokes, St. Peters; daughters, Eunice Simon, St. Louis, and Lucy Alberson, Vanduser; and 10 grandchildren.
Two sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Cecil Adams, pastor of First Baptist Church of Matthews, officiating. Burial will be in Sikeston City Cemetery.
