CHAFFEE - William Frank Schmitt, 83, of Chaffee, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 8, 1909, in New Hamburg, Mo., son of Frank and Katherine Hagan Schmitt.
He married Adella Mary Glueck on Aug. 26, 1947.
Schmitt worked in the car department of the Frisco Railway Company in Chaffee until he retired in 1968. He also worked as a farmer. Schmitt served in the U.S. Army for four years.
Schmitt was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church and a member of the Chaffee American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elaine Schlegel and Paula Schmitt, both of Chaffee; a brother, Louie Schmitt of Chaffee; a sister, Mary Greer of Chaffee; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. A parish prayer session will be held at 7:30 today.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Allan Saunders presiding.
Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in New Hamburg.
