BLOOMFIELD -- William M. Elmore, 69, of Bloomfield died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 7, 1930, at Bloomfield, son of Estel "Jack" and Jessie Hutchison Elmore. He and Elizabeth Moore were married Sept. 19, 1952. She died May 27, 1987. He and Patricia Shively Shipman were married in 1987...

BLOOMFIELD -- William M. Elmore, 69, of Bloomfield died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 7, 1930, at Bloomfield, son of Estel "Jack" and Jessie Hutchison Elmore. He and Elizabeth Moore were married Sept. 19, 1952. She died May 27, 1987. He and Patricia Shively Shipman were married in 1987.

Elmore was a 1948 graduate of Bloomfield High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

He worked in Michigan for a time, moving back to Bloomfield in 1959. He was employed with Missouri Highway Department 33 years, retiring in 1992 as survey party chief. He then was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Stars and Stripes Museum/Library.

Elmore was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on various committees and boards of the church, as well as those of Acorn Ridge and West Pleasant Valley churches. He was a member of Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 153 AF&AM.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Bloomfield; two stepdaughters, Carol Rozier of Osage Beach, Katherine Wethington of Dexter; a stepson, Trent Shipman of Bloomfield; two sisters, Shirley Haney of Puxico, Louise Burklow of Dexter; and four stepgrandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home. Ron Dunivan will officiate. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery, with military graveside rites.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.
