JACKSON - William Edward "Jack" Strickland, 73 years old, of Jackson Route 1, died Thursday, March 21, 1991, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1917 in Mississippi County, son of Van and Willie Carmen Anderson Strickland.
He was married to Venita Masterson on May 7, 1937 at Blodgett. She survives.
He moved to Cape County in December of 1943, where he farmed. He also worked as a livestock dealer. He also owned and operated the Fredericktown Auction Company for several years.
Other survivors include four sons, William Edward "Jack" Strickland Jr. of Jackson, Thomas H. Strickland of Jackson, John D. Strickland of Millersville, and Paul W. Strickland of Oak Ridge; three brothers, Thomas Strickland of the family home, Van Strickland of Sikeston, and Marion Strickland of Florissant; five grandsons; four granddaughters; one step-granddaughter; and two step-grandsons.
He was of the Methodist denomination.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, a grandson, and three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel in Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. W. Michael Woods officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
