TAMMS, Ill. -- William E. Tinsley, 83, of Tamms, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1992, at his home.

He was born April 14, 1908, near Tamms, son of James and Janie Brown Tinsley. He and Hazel Dailey were married June 20, 1925. She died Dec. 10, 1981.

Tinsley was a retired ranger with the U.S. Forest Service.

Survivors include seven sons, Farrell Tinsley of Danville, Laurel Tinsley of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Harold Tinsley of Pollock, La., Robert Tinsley of Jacksonville, Ark., Franklin Tinsley of Bay, Ark., Herschel Tinsley of Cayuga, Ind., Ronnie Tinsley of Tamms; four daughters, Hazel Honkala and Brenda Tinsley of Danville, Mary Harper of Augusta, S.C., Linda Tinsley of Jonesboro; a sister, Ruth Lacey of Carbondale; a brother, Ernest Tinsley of Salem, Wis.; 33 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Chapel in Tamms. The Rev. Bruce Cullers will officiate, with burial in McCrite Cemetery near here.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today, and until time of service on Monday.
