CENTERVILLE, Iowa -- William D. Dillon, 85, of Centerville died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born Jan. 22, 1916, at Centerville, son of J.A. and Mary "Minta" A. Dawkins Dillon. He and Dorothy June Beach were married Aug. 27, 1941, at Springfield, Mo.
He owned and operated Dillon Stone Co. in Columbus Junction, Iowa, for 18 years, during which time he served as mayor and was elected to serve two terms with the Iowa legislature as a representative.
Survivors include his wife of Centerville; a son, William D. Dillon Jr. of Centerville; a daughter, Susan Jaquith of Jackson, Mo.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Friends may call at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville from 1-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Tamara En Tin will officiate, with burial in Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.
